Analytical modelling of flame transfer functions for technically premixed flames

چکیده
The linear response to harmonic acoustic excitation of the total heat release rate in technically premixed flames (Flame Transfer Function, FTF) is studied case an ideal swirl burner. analysis based on linearization production for mean reaction progress variable modelled with a turbulent flame speed closure. Three main components FTF are identified which generated by: I) direct fluctuations fuel mixture fraction (formation enthalpy contribution), II) and III) surface area driven by velocity fluctuations. fluctuation separated into irrotational displacement rotational convective component. effect component here semi-empirical way, related number at base due phase shift between convected tangential acoustically propagating axial It finally shown that can be not only air mass flow but also depend upon side impedance injection location. this changes geometry plenum placed upstream burner affecting way FTF.

Flame Flashback and Propagation of Premixed Flames near a Wall
The flashback or propagation of premixed flames along the near-wall low-velocity region at the base of a laminar boundary layer of a reactive mixture has been studied numerically. The analysis, carried out using the constant density approximation for an Arrhenius overall reaction, accounts for the effects of the Lewis number of the fuel. The flow field, as seen by an observer moving with the fr...
متن کاملExtinction and flame bifurcations of stretched dimethyl-ether premixed flames
Extinction limits and flame bifurcation of lean premixed dimethyl ether-air flames are investigated numerically using the counterflow flame with a reduced chemistry. Emphasis is paid to the combined effect of radiation and flame stretch on the extinction and flammability limits. A method based on the reaction front is presented to predict the Markstein length. The predicted positive Markstein l...
متن کاملFlame Interactions in Turbulent Premixed Twin V-flames
Multiple flame-flame interactions in premixed combustion are investigated using Direct Numerical Simulations of twin turbulent V-flames for a range of turbulence intensities and length scales. Interactions are identified using a novel Automatic Feature Extraction (AFE) technique, based on data registration using the Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform. Information on the time, position and type...
متن کاملTurbulence-Flame Interactions in Lean Premixed Dodecane Flames
Turbulent lean premixed dodecane/air flames are simulated in a doubly-periodic domain using detailed kinetics and transport over a range of Karlovitz number. We observe extensive thickening of thermal profiles through the flames that increases with turbulent intensity. The high Lewis number of the flames acts to suppress wrinkling of the flame resulting in considerably lower turbulent flame spe...
متن کاملFlame Speed Characteristics of Syngas (H2-CO) with Straight Burners for Laminar Premixed Flames
Laminar flame speeds of undiluted syngas (H2/CO) mixtures have been studied at atmospheric conditions using chemiluminescence and schlieren techniques for a straight cylindrical burner apparatus. A wide range of mixture composition, from pure H2 to 1/99 % H2/CO, has been investigated for lean premixed syngas flames. To achieve a better flame stabilization and reduce flame flashback propensity, ...
